Refuse Rates to Increase July 1

Refuse rates in Redondo Beach will increase slightly come July.

Refuse rates in Redondo Beach will increase July 1 per the city's contract with Athens Services, according to a notice posted on the city's website.

Rates for single-family residential units will increase from $14.04 to $14.25 per month, according to the city. The most common multi-family unit race will increase from $78 to $79.12 per month, and the most common commercial customer rate will increase from $81.32 to $82.75 per month.

These rates are still 4 percent lower than the average refuse rates charged to customers in the 2010-2011 fiscal year under the agreement with Consolidated Disposal Disposal Services, according to the city.

Athens Services became the city's refuse hauler in 2011 after a lengthy bidding process.
