Updated: Rite Aid Robbed at Gunpoint
A Rite Aid on Aviation Boulevard is robbed at gunpoint shortly after midnight Wednesday.

Two gunmen robbed a on Aviation Boulevard in North Redondo Beach and fled with about $675 in cash from the store’s cash registers and a customer’s wallet shortly before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Lt. Joe Hoffman.
The two men walked into the business and confronted a security guard at gunpoint, Hoffman said. They also held up a customer for his wallet.

Though the culprits demanded a store employee open the manager’s door so they could steal the store’s safe, the employee couldn’t get the door open, according to a news release from police Sgt. Shawn Freeman.
Another store employee escaped and called 911, Freeman said. The two men left shortly after.

Witnesses described the first robber as a black man standing 5-feet-10-inches tall with a skinny build. He was carrying a .38 revolver. The second robber was described as a black man standing 5-feet-six-inches tall. Both men wore dark clothing and dark ski masks, and witnesses did not see their vehicle.
Hoffman told Patch that police were reviewing surveillance video to try to get images of the robbers.
