RUHS XC Nabs 10th Place at Nationals

The Redondo Union High School girls varsity cross country team finished first out of all the California teams.

The Redondo Union High School girls varsity cross country team finished 10th at in Portland, Ore., on Saturday. This was the team's first time competing at the event.

On Saturday, Senior Rachel Bush finished in the No. 18 slot with a time of 18:37. Junior Kayla Ferron crossed the finish line 20 seconds later to finish 30th with a time of 18:57, and junior Cara Ulizio finished 32nd with a time of 18:59.

The team time for the course was 96:15, with an average time of 19:15 and a spread of 1:19.

With their 10th-Place finish, the Lady Sea Hawks were the No. 1 team from California, edging out CIF Southern Section rival Simi Valley. Simi Valley runner Sarah Baxter finished first in the race.

Additionally, the Redondo girls beat San Diego's La Costa Canyon, which finished 2nd in the CIF State Championships, .
