Shoplifting Suspects Kick Employees: Redondo Beach Crime Blotter

The crime blotter covers incidents in Redondo Beach from Nov. 3 to 9.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.

Shoplifting

  • Nov. 5 - 1800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard
    • Four shoplifters kicked employees as the fled an open store with multiple fragrance sets hidden in bags, RBPD said. According to police, as the suspects ran from the store with the bags, employees chased after them and attempted to take the bags before the employees fell to the ground. Authorities aid the suspects kicked employees multiple times on the ground before they fled. The suspects were described as two Black men and tow Hispanic men.

Commercial Burglary

  • Nov. 6 - 2500 block of Artesia Boulevard
    • According to police, a man used a lighter tor a blow torch to break the front door of a business. RBPD said the suspect fled when the burglary alarm sounded and nothing was stolen.
  • Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 - 800 block of North Catalina Avenue
    • A Bose speaker and three credit cards were reported stolen from a locked storage unit, RBPD said. Police said the suspect cut the lock off of the unit. No additional information was available.
  • Nov. 2-3 - 1200 block of Beryl Street
    • A suspect attempted to cut a hole in the roof of a business in a burglary attempt, RBPD said. The suspect did not succeed and nothing was stolen. No additional information was available.

Residential Burglary

  • Nov. 5 - 1500 block of Ford Avenue
    • Two boxes containing unknown items were reported stolen from a pod storage unit, police said. RBPD said the lock mechanism on the pod was damaged. The suspects were described as a Hispanic man and woman who were seen leaving the location in a Mazda CX-5.
  • Nov. 2-3 - 900 block of Esplanade
    • A plastic folding table was stolen from an unlocked Hyundai Elantra inside a parking structure, RBPD said. No additional information was available.
  • Oct. 26 - Nov. 2 - 1200 block of South Catalina Avenue
    • A Giant Escape bike was stolen from an underground parking structure for a residence, police said. No additional information was available.
  • Nov. 1 - 100 block of Paseo De La Playa
    • A bicycle with a basket was stolen from a parking area for a residence, RBPD said. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man about 5 feet 6 inches tall.

Vehicle Burglary

  • Nov. 1-3 - 500 block of Esplanade
    • A DeWalt radio, tools, clothes and a wallet containing credit cards and cash were reported stolen from a 2003 Chevrolet Express, police said. According to RBPD, the keyhole on the passenger side door was damaged.

Taken From Vehicle

  • Nov. 3 - 100 block of West Torrance Boulevard
    • Clothing items, sunglasses, shoes and registration paperwork were reported stolen from a possibly unlocked Maserati Ghibli, police said. No additional information was available.
  • Nov. 1 - 2600 block of Artesia Boulevard
    • An iPhone 12 mini and an iPhone 12 were taken from an unlocked Toyota Highlander, RBPD said.
  • Nov. 3 - 9 - Redondo Beach
    • During the reporting period, seven catalytic converters were stolen from various locations throughout the city.
