String Of Dodge Ram Thefts: Redondo Beach Crime Blotter

The crime blotter covers incidents in Redondo Beach from Sept. 8-14.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.

Commercial Burglary

  • Sept. 10, 2023 - 12 a.m. to 4:33 p.m. - 500 block of Torrance Boulevard - Authorities said locked mailboxes were pried open to take what was inside. At the time of the report, the loss was unknown.
  • July - Sept. 10, 2023 - unknown - 1400 block of Hawthorne Boulevard - A laptop, keyboard and other miscellaneous items were reported stolen from a locked storage unit, according to RBPD. No suspect information was available.
  • Sept. 7, 2023 - 5 p.m. - 2600 block of Artesia Boulevard - Cash hidden inside a soap dispenser was taken from an open business, according to police. RBPD said a white man used a tool to force open the lock on the soap dispenser. No additional details were available.
  • Sept. 7, 2023 - 12:53 a.m. - 2600 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard - According to police, a suspect cut a lock on a storage unit located at the back of the unit, but nothing was stolen. The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic man and he was seen leaving the location in a black Chevrolet Silverado.

Residential Burglary

  • Sept. 11-12, 2023 - 1 p.m. to 12 p.m. - 1700 block of Esplanade - Sunglasses and miscellaneous personal documents were reported stolen from a white 2015 Honda Civic that was parked in an apartment building parking garage, RBPD said.
  • Sept. 12, 2023 - 11:49 a.m. to 12:48 p.m. - 2100 block of Grant Avenue - A cleaning employee allegedly attempted to take property from a home, according to RBPD. Police said the homeowner observed the employee through a security camera and spoke over the camera's speaker, causing the employee to leave.
  • Sept. 11-12, 2023 - 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. - 1700 block of Esplanade - Two pairs of shorts, 10 Taylor golf clubs, 10 Lynx golf clubs, headphones and cash were reported stolen from a gray 2021 BMW X3 parked in an apartment building parking garage. No suspect information was available.

Vehicle Burglary

  • Sept. 10-11, 2023 - 3 p.m. to 9 a.m. - 200 block of Nelson Avenue - Unknown items were reported stolen from a silver 2006 Toyota Highlander, according to police. No suspect information was available.
  • Sept. 10-11, 2023 - 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. - 2400 block of Marine Avenue - The rear passenger side window of a black 2013 Dodge 3500 Longhorn was smashed, enabling a suspect to steal various items from inside including eight Starbucks cups, cash, Disney Stitch pajamas, 15 shirts, three gift cards, two Steve Madden purses, a wallet and 18 access/credit cards. No suspect information was available.
  • Sept. 6-7, 2023 - 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. - 2100 block of Nelson Avenue - A Social Security card, a handbag and an iPhone were reported stolen from a black 2015 Mercedes Benz CLA 250, according to RBPD. No suspect information was available.

Taken From Vehicle

  • Sept. 11, 2023 - 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. - 1700 block of South Elena Avenue - A possibly unlocked blue 2017 Toyota Camry was broken into and cash, a gold necklace and a pedant were reported stolen, RBPD said.
  • Sept. 6-7, 2023 - 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. - 2300 block of Graham Avenue - A handbag was reported stolen from a gray Ford Edge that was possibly unlocked, according to RBPD. No suspect information was available.
  • Sept. 8-14, 2023 - Redondo Beach - In the reporting period, one catalytic converter was stolen from an unspecified location in the city, according to authorities.

Stolen Vehicles

  • Sept. 6-7, 2023 - 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. - 800 block of Esplanade - A blue 2021 Dodge Ram was reported stolen. The vehicle's license plate is 77168M3.
  • Sept. 6-7, 2023 - 8 p.m. to 7:45 a.m. - 700 block of Sapphire Street - Two suspects attempted to steal a black 2023 Dodge Ram by smashing the rear center window, according to authorities. The car's security measures prevented the suspects from taking the car, RBPD said. The suspects were seen leaving the location in a dark-colored SUV
  • Sept. 6-7, 2023 - 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. - 4170 block of Esplanade - A black 2022 Dodge Ram was reported stolen, but was later recovered by the Orange County Auto Theft Task Force, authorities said.
