Man Followed, Robbed: Redondo Beach Crime Blotter

The crime blotter covers incidents in Redondo Beach from Sept. 22-28.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.

Robbery

  • Sept. 22, 2023 - 11:42 a.m. to 12 p.m. - 4000 block of Inglewood Avenue - A man was arrested on suspicion of robbery after forcibly taking property from another person. According to RBPD, the suspect placed the victim in a headlock and took his white 2023 Polestar Performance AB.
  • Sept. 19, 2023 - 3:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. - 200 block of North Lucia Avenue - Three suspects were allegedly cruising down the street following a man and verbally intimidated him before pulling a necklace off his neck. The suspects were described as two Black men who were about 5 feet 10 inches tall and drove a black compact sedan.

Shoplifting

  • Sept. 20, 2023 - 3:18 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. - 1600 block of Kingsdale Avenue - A left an open store with merchandise in his backpack that he didn't pay for, RBPD said. According to police, store employees attempted to grab the bag, but the man threatened them with a metal pipe as he fled. The suspect left the store with an Embark backpack, two pairs of Goodfellow pants, a flashlight and an Embark shirt. He was described as a Black man who was about 5 feet and 7 inches tall.
  • Sept. 20, 2023 - 3:30 p.m. to 5:23 p.m. - 1600 block of Kingsdale Avenue - A man was arrested after allegedly switching bar codes on merchandise in a store and paying for them, according to authorities. RBPD said an employee stopped the man, but he shoved and threatened to kill her as he fled. Officers later recovered the stolen items and arrested the suspect.

Commercial Burglary

  • Sept. 22, 2023 - 2:50 a.m. to 3:55 a.m. - 2700 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard - Three unknown suspects allegedly smashed the front window of a business, RBPD said. There was no description available for the suspects, but they were seen leaving the location in a white Chevrolet and a black Honda with no license plates.
  • Sept. 22, 2023 - 2:16 a.m. to 3:55 a.m. - 2700 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard - Three unknown suspects allegedly smashed the front window of a business, which set off the burglary alarm RBPD said. The suspects took blank business checks from the store according to authorities. There was no description available for the suspects, but they were seen leaving the location in a white Chevrolet and a black Honda with no license plates.

Residential Burglary

  • Sept. 21-22, 2023 - 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. - 2100 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard - A remote garage door opener was stolen from a locked car parked inside an apartment complex parking garage. No suspect information was available.
  • Sept. 20-22, 2023 - 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. - 2100 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard - Prada sunglasses and a remote garage door opener were stolen from a locked vehicle, according to police. RBPD said the suspect gained entry to the vehicle via the rear canvas cover. No suspect information was available.
  • Sept. 20, 2023 - 10:14 p.m. - 2900 block of West 190th Street - A package containing Ketamine nasal spray was stolen from an apartment lobby mailbox area, according to RBPD. The suspect was described as a white man in his 30s.
  • Sept. 20-21, 2023 - 8 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. - 200 block of South Catalina Avenue - A Chromebook computer, cash and an FTP watch were stolen from a locked vehicle in an underground apartment complex parking garage, police said. No suspect information was available.
  • Sept. 19-20, 2023 - 8 p.m. to 4:56 a.m. - 1800 block of Mackay Lane - A Juicy Couture wallet containing cash, a social security card and debit cards was reported stolen from a locked car, according to RBPD.No suspect information was available.
  • Sept. 18-19, 2023 - 3 p.m to 6:20 a.m. - 2900 block of 190th Street - An electric garage door opener and keys were reported stolen from a car parked in a secured parking area at an apartment complex. The suspect was described as a white man with no further description.

Vehicle Burglary

  • Sept. 23-24, 2023 - 9:30 p.m. to 9 a.m. - 1700 block of Axenty Way - A tool bag containing miscellaneous tools was stolen from a white 2021 Ford Transit Connect. According to authorities, the front passenger side window of the van was smashed. The suspect was seen leaving the location in a white sedan.
  • Sept. 23, 2023 - 4:10 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. - 200 block of Flagler Lane - A Gucci purse containing house keys, car keys, credit cards and a driver's license was reported stolen from a silver 2008 Toyota Camry. According to police, the suspect gained access to the car via the trunk. No suspect information was available.
  • Sept. 22, 2023 - 6:50 a.m. to 3 p.m. - 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard - According to RBPD, a suspect broke into a locked vehicle to take cash, an insurance card, Crocs, water bottles and prescription medication. No suspect information was available.
  • Sept. 23, 2023 - 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. - 1800 block of Esplanade - A suspect broke into a car by unknown means to take a wallet, house keys, a social security card, multiple credit cards, a purse, a driver's license, car key and Aplle AirPod pros RBPD said. No suspect information was available.
  • Sept. 22, 2023 - 11:50 a.m. to 3 p.m. -2100 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard - Sunglasses and keys were reported stolen from a black 2020 Lexus Nx. According to RBPD, the passenger window was smashed. No suspect information was available.
  • Sept. 22-28, 2023 - unknown - 1800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard - According to authorities, two suspects stole a gray 2015 Jeep Cherokee and broke into a black 2013 Audi A6. RBPD said suspects broke windows in both of the cars and stole items, including a flashlight with a taser device. The suspects were described as a Black man and boy and they were seen leaving the location in a gray Lexus GS300.
  • Sept. 20-21, 2023 - 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. - 1900 block of Rockefeller Lane - Suspects broke into a white Toyota Tundra by unknown means to take sports equipment, AirPods, a portable speaker and a wallet containing cash, credit cards, a driver's license and a LADWP work ID. No suspect information was available.

Taken From Vehicle

  • Sept. 22-24, 2023 - 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. - 2100 block of Bataan Road - A tool tray with many tools including a Milwaukee grinder and a Milwaukee roto hammer, as well as a six-pack charger with five batteries and a rolling tool box, were reported stolen from a white 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. No suspect information was available.

Stolen Vehicles

  • Sept. 17, 2023 - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Harbor Drive and Catalina Avenue - A black 2005 Toyota 4-Runner was reported stolen. The car's license plate is 5LDP128.
  • Sept. 22, 2023 - 11 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. - 1800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard - Suspects attempted to steal a white 2016 Kia Optima, but were unsuccessful according to RBPD.
  • Sept. 21, 2023 - 3:25 p.m. to 4:42 p.m. - 900 block of North Pacific Coast Highway - A suspect allegedly provided fraudulent information on a loan application to purchase a white Honda Civic, according to RBPD. The license plate number is 7MMG304.
