Unarmed Robbery, 2 Passport Thefts: Redondo Beach Crime Blotter
The crime blotter covers incidents in Redondo Beach from Oct. 6-12.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.
Robbery
- Oct. 7, 2023 - 6:30 a.m. to 10:12 a.m. - 1200 block of Pacific Coast Highway - Multiple suspects were apparently loitering in front of a store before it opened and were given free cups of coffee, police said. According to RBPD, the incident escalated when one suspect pretended to have a gun and demanded employees and customers to put money on the table. The suspect fled when he saw an employee making a phone call, police said. The suspect was described as a white man who was 6 feet 1 inch tall.
Commercial Burglary
- Oct. 7-8, 2023 - 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. - 2400 block of Marine Avenue - According to RBPD, a woman got into an employee break room at a store and stole medical and hospital ID cards, credit cards, cash, a backpack, a Nigerian passport and a wallet. The suspect was described as a Black woman who was 5 feet and 3 inches tall with a heavy build.
- Oct. 5, 2023 - 6 p.m. to 11:52 p.m. - 2600 block of Artesia Boulevard - Suspect attempted to rob a business, but were scared away when an alarm system was activated. RBPD said the front glass window was smashed.
Residential Burglary
- Oct. 9, 2023 - 5:45 p.m. to 6 p.m.- 2200 block of Vanderbilt Lane - A suitcase, clothing, jewelry and a credit card were stolen from a gray 2019 Honda CR-V. According to police, the car was unlocked and parked in an attached garage. No suspect information was available.
- Oct. 5-8, 2023 - 12 a.m. to 8:55 p.m.- 400 block of Anita Street - Jewelry was reported stolen from a home. According to RBPD, the rear glass sliding door was smashed.
- Oct. 6-8, 2023 - 3:26 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. - 2100 block of Voorhees Avenue - A Lectric Sp-light bicycle was reported stolen from an open garage, RBPD said. No suspect information was available.
- Oct. 7-8, 2023 - 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.- 1200 block of Esplanade - A Super 73 e-bike was reported stolen from the underground parking structure of an apartment complex. No suspect information was available.
- Oct. 5-7, 2023 - 7:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. - 2000 block of Farrell Avenue - Bike and some change were stolen from an open garage and possibly unlocked vehicles, RBPD said. No suspect information was available.
- Oct. 2-4, 2023 - 12 a.m. to 1 p.m. - 700 block of Esplanade - A Giant hybrid bicycle was reported stolen from a locked garage of a housing complex. RBPD said officers found a cut lock.
Vehicle Burglary
- Oct. 6-8, 2023 - 9:36 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. - 2800 block of McBain Avenue - Two women allegedly stole a Tesla center console that contained gift cards, a Costco membership card, a leather card holder, a Swiss army knife and a Rand work ID. No additional suspect information was available.
- Oct. 6-7, 2023 - 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. - 400 block of North Lucia Avenue - According to the RBPD, a suspect smashed the rear passenger side window of a Toyota Avalon to take luggage that contained a Macbook computer, an iPad, a school ID, a driver's license and a debit card.
- Oct. 6, 2023 - 7:15 p.m. to 10:31 p.m. - 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard - Suspects allegedly smashed the front passenger side windows of two cars and took two laptops, a German passport and cash. No suspect information was available.
- Oct. 5, 2023 - 3:10 p.m. 3:30 p.m. - 600 block of Camino Real - According to police, the rear trunk window of a Toyota Sienna was smashed, but nothing was stolen from the car. No suspect information was available.
Taken From Vehicle
- Oct. 8-9, 2023 - 6:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. - 1400 block of Clark Lane - A wallet was reported stolen from an unlocked car. Police said the wallet contained credit cards, cash and a driver's license.
- Oct. 3-4, 2023 - 9:45 p.m. to 11 a.m. - 2100 block of Belmont Lane - Both license plates were stolen from a 1970 Chevrolet El Camino. The license plate number is 4Z47327.
- Oct. 6-12 - Redondo Beach - During the reporting period, two catalytic converters were stolen from various locations throughout the city.
Stolen Vehicles
- Oct. 11-12, 2023 - 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. - 1700 block of Herrin Street - A silver 2010 Hyundai Tuscon was reported stolen. The car's license plate is 7YOY151.
