Weekend Planner: Holiday Kickoff
Kick off the holiday season with the Riviera Village Holiday Stroll, multiple holiday boutiques and gingerbread-house decorating!
Where and when: Riviera Village (Catalina Avenue and Avenue I), Redondo Beach; Thursday, 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Why go: Take a horse-drawn carriage ride through Riviera Village and get a jump start on your holiday shopping during the annual Holiday Stroll. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Richstone Family Center.

Why go: Start your holiday shopping at the Tulita PTA Holiday Boutique. Vendors of all sorts will be on campus for parents to browse, and Tulita teachers will read stories to kids. There will also be arts and crafts, family photo sessions and a visit from Santa Claus.

Why go: Light up and serenade Redondo Beach's premier shopping mall with this event sponsored by Journey of Faith and Vitality City. Check in begins at 3:30 p.m. on Level 1 near the Guest Services booth. The first 1,000 volunteers to register at South Bay Galleria will receive a free LED candle and Vitality City T-shirt.

Why go: Kick off the six-event surf contest series with the South Bay community and watch local surfers in action.
