Woman Killed In Crash, Passenger Arrested On Suspicion Of Assault

According to police, the male passenger was "involved in a physical altercation in the car before the crash."

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A woman was killed in a car crash in Redondo Beach and her passenger was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

At about 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning, Redondo Beach Police Department officers received reports about a crash at the intersection of Lilienthal and Alvord Lanes. When officers arrived, they discovered the woman driving the car died at the scene and her passenger, Jacob Jordan Nimz, was taken to a local hospital to treat minor injuries.

According to the Daily Breeze, Nimz was arrested following treatment.

"What happened was there was an allegation that Nimz was involved in a physical altercation in the car before the crash," Redondo Beach police Lt. Brian Long said. "So, he was arrested on the assault charge."

Additional details about the identity of the woman and the circumstances of the crash and alleged assault were unavailable. The incident is still under investigation, RBPD said.
