Worker Pulls Knife On Man Over Payment: Redondo Beach Crime Blotter
The crime blotter covers incidents in Redondo Beach from Nov. 10 to 16.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.
Shoplifting
- Nov. 15 - 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard
- A man was arrested for changing into clothing from a store inside a changing room and leaving without paying for the items. According to RBPD, loss prevention employees attempted to stop the man, who tripped and injured an employee as he fled. All of the items were recovered.
- Nov. 14 - 1800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard
- Suspects threatened to stab employees of a clothing store as they exited with stolen items that they concealed, according to RBPD. The suspects were described as a Black man and woman in their 30s to 50s.
Robbery
- Nov. 8 - 1800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard
- A man who worked as a day laborer met with another person at a bank to be paid for work. According to police, the man was not paid in full so he threatened the other man with a pocketknife and then attempted to open the car doors, kick the car and throw a rock at the vehicle. The man was described as a 40-year-old Hispanic man who drove a red 2017 Toyota Corolla.
Commercial Burglary
- Nov. 8-9 - 500 block of North Prospect Avenue
- Gardening tools were reported stolen from a locked shed, police said. According to RBPD, officers found a lock that was cut off the shed.
- Nov. 7 - 200 block of North Harbor Drive
- Copper wiring was stolen from a building under construction, police said. Authorities aid the suspects used a crowbar to open several electrical boxes in the main building to get to the wiring.
Residential Burglary
- Nov. 13-14 - 1800 block of South Pacific Coast Highway
- A package containing an antique bowl was stolen from an apartment complex mailroom, police said. Police said it is unsure how the man got into the building, but he was seen leaving the location in a black Jeep Wrangler.
- Nov. 7-11 - 500 block of Avenue G
- An electric bike and a pet trailer were stolen from a shared carport, police said. According to RBPD, the chain and lock were cut off of the carport. No additional information was available.
- Nov. 7-9 - 300 block of South Prospect Avenue
- An e-bike and a hybrid e-bike were stolen from a bike rack in a gated apartment complex, RBPD said. No additional information was available.
- Nov. 4 - 2200 block of Farrell Avenue
- A woman got into a secured mail area of an apartment complex that required a passcode and stole a package that contained an electronic fuel pack for a motorcycle. The suspect was described as a Hispanic woman who was seen leaving the location in an older-model red Toyota Camry.
- Nov. 8-9 - 300 block of The Village
- Suspects broke into a secured storage area of an underground parking structure by removing a fence post and took an Easy-Go flatbed golf cart and charger, Ryobi batteries and a Milwaukee tool bag with miscellaneous tools inside. No additional information was available.
- Nov. 1-8 - 2700 block of Artesia Boulevard
- A bike was stolen from a residential garage by cutting the lock and removing it from a bike rack. No additional information was available.
Taken From Vehicle
- Nov. 12-13 - 2300 block of Ralston Lane
- Softball equipment including a bat, batting gloves, softball glove, helmet, Redondo Sunset equipment bag, a fielder's glove, a softball fungo and a sweatshirt were stolen from an unlocked vehicle, police said. No additional information was available.
- Nov. 9-10 - 2400 block of Harriman Lane
- Thieves smashed the front passenger window of a Jeep Compass and took a Bluetooth cellphone connector, London Falls luggage, Samsung charging cable, iPhone charging cable, clothing and shoes. No additional information was available.
- Oct. 25 to Nov. 8 - 700 block of Meyer Lane
- The front license plate was taken off of a Nissan Sentra and was replaced with a different license plate from the suspect. No additional information was available.
- Nov. 6 - 2400 block of Ralston Lane
- A rear license plate was stolen from a parked Ford F-150, police said. No additional information was available.
