2 Redwood City Teens Killed In San Mateo County Crash

The two teenagers were killed when their car went down an embankment off of Skyline Boulevard.

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- Two of the three teenagers who were found dead Wednesday morning from a car crash were identified as Redwood City residents.

Matthew Cruz, 18, and Ricardo Torres, 19, of Redwood City were found alongside Andrew Gonzales, 18, of Menlo Park, in the wreckage of a crash off Skyline Boulevard in unincorporated San Mateo County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers responded to the incident around 7:49 a.m. Wednesday and found a 2010 Hyundai occupied by the three teenagers had crashed at some point overnight.

The car was traveling south on Skyline, left the west side of the roadway, struck a tree and came to rest on its wheels about 50 feet down the embankment, CHP officials said.

All three occupants died in the crash.
