We are sad to announce the passing of our mother, Judith “Jackie” Jacqueline Kuhn. Jackie was born in Miraflores, Lima, Peru on November 30, 1931 and grew up with two younger sisters, Maruja and Bessie. After graduating from Colegio Maria Alvarado, she worked at the Canadian Embassy. She then worked with the Rosas Brothers Group, and finally at Algodones Nacionales Inca S.A.
In her early 20’s while working in Lima, she cared for her ailing parents until their deaths. After her mom passed away in 1959, she joined her best friend, Talia O'Connell, and set out on an adventure of a lifetime in a single-engine plane bound for the United States. Jackie met her future husband, George, in San Francisco. They soon were married and had their first child, William Gustav, in 1961. Helmut Fritz followed two years later, and Maria Bettina was born in 1971.
While raising two sons, Jackie worked for Lenkurt Electric Company as a solderer assembling circuits. A few years later, Jackie began working for the County of San Mateo as a bilingual Eligibility Worker, a job that was her most fulfilling (other than motherhood). Jackie would run into some of her former clients in her retirement years, and they would thank her for tirelessly working on their behalf.

Jackie had numerous talents. She was bilingual and was spokesperson on the radio for her church. Jackie was talented enough with languages that she learned French on her own as an adult. She knitted, crocheted, and worked with stained glass.
Jackie’s keen intelligence, faith, and generosity is how she will be remembered. She was a devout Catholic and attended St. Pius Catholic Church in Redwood City where she attended mass every week. She touched many people’s lives by her generosity and selflessness. As we write this, stories of her incredible generosity are streaming in. During her amazing life she found ways to reach out and help people without fanfare.
