Maguire Jail Inmate Died At Hospital: SMC Sheriff's
The inmate whose identity has not been released yet was discovered unresponsive in a housing pod where staff tried to revive him: SMC.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — An inmate died in custody at the Maguire Correction Facility on Thursday afternoon, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Deputies assigned to the Redwood City jail discovered an inmate unresponsive during a security check on a housing pod at about 2 p.m.
Correctional, County Medical and Redwood City Fire Department Personnel responded immediately and initiated medical treatment to include CPR, the Sheriff's Department added. The inmate was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The sheriff’s office Detective Bureau is investigating the incident. A preliminary investigation points to a possible suicide.
