Man Arrested After Whole Foods Robbery In Redwood City: Police

Police said the suspect's family phoned 911 after he came home with a large amount of cash.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Redwood City officers arrested a man Tuesday who investigators allege robbed a Whole Foods while hinting to the cashier that he was armed with a gun.

According to police the man entered the store, walked up to a cashier, and demanded they hand over money before he fled the area. A customer followed the man out of the store and tracked him to an apartment on Vera Avenue, calling 911. Meanwhile, police said the man's family called 911 to report he had returned home with a large amount of money.

Several officers and detectives surrounded the home and eventually convinced the man to surrender. He was booked into jail on suspicion of robbery and an outstanding warrant.
