No 'Man With Gun' Found Near Peninsula School, Lockdown Lifted

Woodside Elementary School was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon, but police say the report "was not confirmed."

WOODSIDE, CA -- Woodside Elementary School was on lockdown Thursday afternoon after a man was reportedly seen with a gun near the campus. However, at 5:12 p.m., sheriff's officials said no one was found in the area.

Deputies and detectives arrived at the school, located at 3195 Woodside Road, after a student said he saw a "man with a gun" at the creek behind the school around 2 p.m., according to the San Mateo Sheriff's Department. A lockdown was issued shortly thereafter.

Sheriff's officials lifted the lockdown after a search turned up no results for the alleged gunman.
