Redwood City Car Wash Burglar Found Hiding On Roof: Police

Police said the burglar triggered an alarm before attempting to hide from officers early Wednesday.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Police in Redwood City arrested a man accused of breaking into a car wash and hiding from officers on the building's roof.

According to police, an alarm was activated around 1 a.m. Wednesday at a self-serve car wash on Woodside Road. The alarm company told dispatch a masked suspect was spotted in the building's equipment room. Officers responded to the scene with a police canine and set up a perimeter.

Police learned the man was attempting to hide on the roof, and investigators called in the Redwood City Fire Department to provide a ladder that officers used to reach the suspect.

The man was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of commercial burglary and possession of illegal burglary tools.
