According to KRON, investigators learned that all three suspects and the victim had attended what police called an illegal, pop-up block party. There, an altercation broke out and the shooting took place, police said.
The SJPD said its Homicide Unit conducted a comprehensive investigation that led to the identification of the suspects.
On the same day that Macias was arrested in Redwood City, police said Padilla was arrested in Oakland by the SJPD's Covert Response Unit (CRU) and Velazquez was arrested in San Jose by the CRU.
Police have not yet revealed a motive for the crime.
