SamTrans Experiencing Delays Due To Worker Sickout: Report

Workers are calling in sick during labor negotiations with the San Mateo County transit agency.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — SamTrans is experiencing service delays this week due to “temporary system-wide bus operator shortages,” the agency said on Twitter.

The disruptions are due to workers calling in sick during current labor negotiations with the San Mateo County transit agency, a SamTrans spokesperson told the San Mateo Daily Journal. The spokesperson said that the sickout was planned for Monday and Tuesday.

At least eight bus routes experienced delays Tuesday morning, the agency posted on Twitter.

The spokesperson told the Daily Journal that dispatchers are working to cover the highest priority routes and that routes to schools have been uninterrupted.
