San Mateo's Clean Energy Program Saved Customers $17 Million Last Year
Peninsula Clean Energy said ECOplus continues to keep bills lower than PG&E's baseline while tapping cleaner sources.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Neighbors in San Mateo have saved more than $100 million since Peninsula Clean Energy launched in 2016, including $17 million saved just last year, according to the agency.
Officials on Tuesday outlined the program's success around San Mateo County and Los Banos, finding ECOplus customers continue to see lower bills than standard PG&E rates.
"We are providing our customers with the best of both worlds: Cleaner electricity and at lower costs," said Jan Pepper, the agency's CEO. "In doing so, we are staying on path in our sector-leading effort to reliably and affordably deliver emission-free, all-renewable power every hour of each day."
