Sheriff Investigating Second Incident on Barron Avenue

Shots discharged near Fair Oaks Elementary School.

San Mateo County Deputies are on alert Wednesday, after a second gun shooting took place in the 700 block of Barron Avenue near Redwood City Tuesday night.

At about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday deputies responded to a call about gunshots being discharged.

"Witnesses stated an unknown suspect fired a 9mm handgun into the air while standing in the street in front of the mobile home park," said Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt, Public Information Officer for the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesseses also told deputies they saw a Hispanic male in his 20s running away from the scene, after they heard the gunshots.  It is not clear if this is the same person who discharged a firearm on Monday night. The description witnesses provided is identical.

No one was injured in either incident.  This is the second shooting in the same location in 48 hours, which is unusual, according to Rosenblatt.

"We dont generally have shots fired calls on a regular basis and in the same block two nights in a row," Rosenblatt told Patch. "Definitely not the norm."

This is the third shooting in that block this year.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Anonymous Tip Line at 1-800-547-2700 or Detective Mark Myers at 650-802-4238.
