REDWOOD CITY, CA — The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors will host the first public hearing on budget recommendations for the next two fiscal years on Monday morning, outlining a $7.7 billion spending plan.

County leaders say the investments focus on ways to end homelessness, boost emergency preparation, support kids and families and advance equity. The priorities unveiled last month include funding for dozens of new health services positions and modernization of emergency response protocols.

Monday's hearing will start with SMC Executive Mke Callagy overviewing the recommendations and economic outlook, taking into account inflation, interest rates and the potential for a recession.
