Deputies will be on hand to take unused fireworks for safe disposal at an event in Redwood City this weekend.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — San Mateo County residents will have a chance this weekend to exchange fireworks for cash — with no questions asked — as part of an effort to keep the community safe and fire-free this Independence Day.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is hosting an anonymous fireworks buyback event on Sunday, June 25, in Redwood City. Residents can bring any unused fireworks to the parking lot outside the San Mateo County Human Services building.
Deputies will be on-hand to accept and safely dispose of the fireworks, and will pay up to $75 for the drop-off.
