Steph And Ayesha Curry Oppose Atherton Development: Report
The proposed 23 Oakwood Blvd. development is part of Atherton's effort to meet its housing element goal for 2023-2031.

ATHERTON, CA — NBA star Steph Curry and Ayesha Curry, his celebrity chef wife, have expressed opposition to a proposed development adjacent to their Atherton mansion in a letter to public officials obtained by KRON.
The Currys cited concerns over their privacy and safety in the Jan. 18 letter sent to Atherton Mayor Bill Widmer and City Manager George Rodericks in opposition to the proposed three-story townhouses at 23 Oakwood Blvd.
“We hesitate to add to the ‘not in our backyard’ rhetoric, but we wanted to send a note before today's meeting,” the letter said.

“Safety and privacy for us and our kids continues to be our top priority and one of the biggest reasons we chose Atherton as home. With the density being proposed for 23 Oakwood, there are major concerns in terms of both privacy and safety with three-story townhomes looming directly behind us.”
The proposed development is part of Atherton’s effort to meet its housing element goal for 2023-2031.

All California cities are required to include the housing element in their General Plan to address the state’s housing crisis.
“We kindly ask that the Town adopts the new Housing Element without the inclusion of 23 Oakwood,” the letter said.
“Should that not be sufficient for the State, we ask that the Town commits to investing in considerably taller fencing and landscaping to block sight lines onto our family's property.”
