Supervisors Will Appoint New SMC Sheriff, No Special Election Will Be Held
This news came hours after a judge rejected the former sheriff's attempt to challenge her removal.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors voted 3 to 2 Tuesday to appoint a new sheriff rather than hold a special election after they unanimously removed the sheriff earlier this month.
The Board of Supervisors voted to remove Sheriff Christina Corpus on Oct. 14.
Following a special meeting and nearly 100 public comments, the Board of Supervisors directed staff Tuesday to pursue an appointment process.
