Weapons Stolen From San Mateo County Sheriff's Car

The weapons were stolen from the sergeant's car while he was in San Francisco.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- Weapons from a San Mateo County Sheriff's Department car were stolen, officials said last Sunday.

The guns and ammunition were taken from a sergeant's car while he was in San Francisco on an FBI task force, sheriff's officials said.

The sergeant's car was parked on Jones Street and was burglarized after 10 p.m. Friday, San Francisco police said.

The sergeant had locked the vehicle, but when he returned to his car he found a window had been smashed, Detective Salvador Zuno, San Mateo County Sheriff's Office spokesman, said.

A shotgun, a rifle, ammunition, a Kevlar vest and a jacket were stolen, San Francisco police said.

The San Francisco Police Department is leading the investigation in this incident.
