Two people got out of the unknown car and witnesses reported hearing numerous gunshots before the unknown car sped away.
Detectives learned the victims were driven to a local hospital by family members. They also learned that while there were three people in the Mustang, only one person was injured by the gunfire. That victim was a 19-year-old Santa Rosa woman and she was treated and released from the hospital. Her name will not be disclosed, Mahurin said.
Police do not know if there was more than one shooter.
Detectives do not believe it was a random act of violence and were looking into a possible motive, Mahurin said.
Police asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department and provide a statement. Information can also be reported online at www.srcity.org/CrimeTips or by calling the SRPD Violent Crimes team at 707-543-3590
"If you live in this area, please check surveillance cameras for any footage that would assist with the investigation," Mahurin said.
A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Sonoma County Alliance Community Engagement and Safety Rewards Fund for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting.
