2 Indicted For Smuggling Sea Cucumbers Into San Diego
Breaking: A father and son managed to smuggle more than $17 million worth of the rare delicacy.

SAN DIEGO, CA – A father and son, and their company Blessings, Inc, have been charged with smuggling more than $17 million worth of sea cucumbers, according to a report on FOX News. Ramon Torres Mayorquin and his son, David Mayorquin, were charged in a San Diego federal court with conspiracy, false labeling and unlawful importation of wildlife.
The animals are known in some Asian communities as a delicacy, so buying and selling them can be quite a lucrative, legitimate business. But in this case, according to the report, the family bought $13 million worth of illegally harvested sea cucumbers from poachers, then allegedly sold them to Asian markets for about $17.5 million.
