Wildfire Near Campo Threatens Structures, Prompts Evacuations
Authorities issued evacuation orders and warnings for people in the area.

CAMPO, CA — A fast-moving wildfire burned dozens of acres, threatened structures and prompted evacuations Monday afternoon in the Mountain Empire area of southeastern San Diego County.
The blaze, dubbed the Posta 3 Fire, sparked around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of La Posta Road and Old Highway 80, north of the community of Campo, according to Cal Fire San Diego. By 4 p.m., the fire grew to 220 acres and was threatening structures.
Crews were fighting the flames on the ground and aboard air tankers and water-dropping helicopters.

"The fire is now 220 acres and continues to burn at a rapid rate of spread," Cal Fire officials said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Authorities issued evacuation orders and warnings for people in the area. A temporary evacuation point was established at Golden Acorn Casino at 1800 Golden Acorn Way in Campo.
