SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — We've rounded up the stories you may have missed over the weekend to prepare you for the week ahead.
But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect warmer temperatures in the inland areas, according to the National Weather Service.
"High pressure to the south will bring warming to inland areas through Wednesday with Wednesday high temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above average for inland areas, then a few degrees cooler for Thursday through Monday with slightly stronger onshore flow," NWS San Diego forecasters wrote Monday. "Night and morning coastal low clouds will return for the latter half of the week."

In other news, the Los Angeles Dodgers are headed to the World Series. The team eliminated the New York Mets with a 10-5 victory in Game 6 of the NL Championship Series on Sunday night.
CVS pharmacy clerks and technicians are entering their fourth day of a strike Monday after walking off the job and onto picket lines at four locations in Los Angeles and another three in Orange County as their union pushes for a new contract and alleges unlawful labor practices.

Nearly 2,400 mental health workers at Kaiser Permanente facilities are poised to strike Monday amid contract talks and allegations of a "broken" system of care, while Kaiser officials say the union has been "slow walking" the negotiation process and planned to strike before labor talks even began.
A boy died from a gunshot wound to the head at a Los Angeles County home, authorities said. Investigators learned the 7-year-old did not reside at the location, but was visiting a friend.
UCLA police said that five students seated at a bus bench were the target of an ethnic slur and a water bottle was lobbed at them.
A Powerball ticket with five numbers, but missing the Powerball number, was sold in Southern California, the California Lottery announced. The ticket worth $243,664.
Plus, Monday is the deadline for California voters to register to vote in the Nov. 5 election, Secretary of State Shirley Weber announced. Anyone who misses the deadline can still participate in same day voter registration through Election Day.
