COVID Numbers Again On Rise – County Reports 1,767 New Cases, 353 In Hospitals
The county also reported eight new deaths.

The number of new COVID-19 cases in San Diego County began to climb again after dipping during the holiday weekend, public health officials said Thursday.

Hospitalizations and ICU admissions rose as well. Those admitted to local hospitals totaled 353, with 42 patients in need of intensive care, according to state numbers.
That was up from 308 patients in local hospitals Friday, with 34 in ICUs.

Since the county’s Health and Human Services Agency last reported figures, the daily case count has been:
- Wednesday – 1,767
- Tuesday –1,283
The county also reported eight new deaths. With the new data, new COVID cases in the last seven days totaled 9,791.
Overall, the county’s case numbers dating back to the winter of 2020 total 844,017. Meanwhile, 5,357 have perished.
