Here are four of the top stories in San Diego today:
- Staff, volunteers and clients at Father Joe’s Villages are being contacted by the Tuberculosis (TB) Control program of the County Public Health Services department with the notification that they may have been exposed to TB. Dates of exposure include Jan. 14 – Mar. 3, 2023. Public Health officials recommend that persons associated with the charity be tested for TB. (County News Center)
- The San Diego County Board of Supervisors designated several of its county-owned properties for conversion to public housing. Existing health and human services buildings will be demolished before construction begins. While the county budgeted funds to demolish these buildings, it's not clear yet how many homes would be built on the sites. (CBS News 8)
- You might hate the rain, but the birds love it! More rain means more bugs for birds to eat. Birds are also nesting earlier than usual as a result of the recent rains. Arborists are urging homeowners not to trim trees or bushes this time of year, as bird eggs and babies might be living in those locations right now. Homeowners should wait until babies fly away. If you must trim, do it carefully — fines can be as high as $5,000 under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, for disturbing certain species of birds. (NBC San Diego)
- Take a self-guided culinary tour, and savor the small bites offered by more than 35 of Hillcrest’s best restaurants, during the annual Taste of Hillcrest event from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 8. Sample delights such as pad thai, sashimi, Italian antipasto, American comfort food and other cuisines, along with dozens of beer and spritzer samples.
