Rancho Bernardo Brush Fire Contained; Evacuations Lifted

The fire came as Santa Ana winds blew through Southern California.

SAN DIEGO — A 5-acre brush fire in Rancho Bernardo was quickly brought under control by firefighters in San Diego County Monday, Oct. 30.

Dry conditions and high winds appeared to contribute to the brusher which was first reported around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Escala Drive and Chretien Court, authorities said.

Officials fought the fire with ground and air crews and evacuated about two dozen homes and an apartment complex as a precaution ahead of the slow-moving fire which firefighters brought under control last evening according to a post by San Diego Fire Department on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter.
