High Winds, Fire Danger, Power Outages Force School Closures In San Diego County
"The safety of students and school staff is of the utmost importance to San Diego County school districts," the Office of Education said.
SAN DIEGO, CA — Some San Diego area schools were closed Tuesday amid critical fire weather conditions in the region.
The San Diego County Office of Education announced that schools in Bonsall Unified School District, Julian Union Elementary School District, Julian Union High School District, Mountain Empire Unified School District, Spencer Valley School District and Warner Unified School District were closed due to high winds, fire danger and power outages. Mt. Woodson Elementary in Ramona Unified School District, as well as Lakeside Farms Elementary and DREAM Academy in Lakeside Union School District were also closed.

A red flag warning was in effect until 10 p.m. Tuesday for the county's inland valleys and mountains, according to the National Weather Service. A high wind warning was in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday for the mountains and valleys. A fire weather watch was also issued for 6 p.m. Wednesday until 6 p.m. Thursday for the mountains and valleys.
