San Diegans looking for an ideal place to rest, rejuvenate, and relax that won't break the bank this summer are invited out to this, the largest new hotel resort and convention center, just miles away from everything.

One reviewer recently described it as a "great resort for kids," and another suggested it offers a "Vegas feel in San Diego." The resort is new and is still in the process of staffing and was designed to be an affordable place for area families to visit, according to Peter Borum, a spokesperson for Gaylord Pacific, in a recent SFGate report.
“We are a really solid example of public and private partnership and what can happen when local governments come together to really bring something audacious to life,” Peter Borum, spokesperson for the Gaylord Pacific, told SFGate. “Part of our partnership between the Port of San Diego and the City of Chula Vista was to provide day passes to the local public and to make those available at an affordable cost, not just on a limited-time basis but in perpetuity.”
As a side note, these passes often sell out, especially during the summer. Off season may be your best bet to visit the Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center's excellent water park, but because it offers the laziest of rivers, looping water slides, a sloshy wave pool, and more, and during peak summer season, a king-sized accommodation starts at $463 per room. Ultimately, the master plan calls for over 200 acres of parks, open space, a shoreline promenade, walking trails, RV camping, shopping, and dining. This is Chula Vista's first such hotel and the largest public-private partnership ever undertaken by the port.
The footprint of the 1,600-room hotel and convention center is awe-inspiring,and it is expected to employ 3,580 workers, with an economic impact of half a billion dollars each year, according to previous reports.
Located much closer to the Palm Desert JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort, and significantly cooler in the summertime, the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center offers a family-friendly atmosphere with one of the most intricate and relaxing water parks in Southern California.
