- The San Diego District Attorney’s billboards warn that insurance fraud is a felony and could result in prison time. More than 15 percent of all auto insurance claims are fraudulent, and prosecutors are going after the perpetrators. Repeat offenders can get up to five years prison time. Seems harsh? Remember, we all pay for this kind of fraud through higher insurance costs. (CBS 8)
- While Coronado beaches reopened, several other beaches remain under advisory. The Tijuana Slough, Imperial Beach and Silver Strand Shorelines will remain closed until declared safe. Fanuel Park in Mission Bay, Children's Pool in La Jolla, Tidelands Park in Coronado, La Jolla Cove and San Diego River Outlet in Ocean Beach, were declared under advisory. - They scale the wall for a shot at a better life, but many end up in a trauma center with spinal cord injuries instead. The new border walls are as much as 30 feet high; these high-severity injuries increased five-fold through 2019, and the trend is rising. Doctors are speaking out in the hope that officials will give priority to the border crisis. (CBS News 8)
- The abundance of wildflowers in bloom right now is astounding! Gooseberry, morning glory, popcorn flowers, bush monkey and more make for a profusion of colors to behold. Love poppies? Look to the hillsides for their orange regalia. If you go, be careful not to trample the plants, and remember that rattlesnakes are in season. Take photos for your memory book, but leave the flowers to share with others.🌻 (KPBS)
