- A landslide in San Clemente halted Amtrak rail service from Laguna Niguel through San Diego this week. The landslide occurred near the Casa Romantica Cultural Center in San Clemente, causing dirt and debris to come down onto the hillside. Passengers are advised to call or text 800-USA-RAIL (872-7245) for travel information. (Times of San Diego)
- City Attorney Mara Elliott filed a lawsuit against Caydon Property Group for abandoning its property and creating a continuing public nuisance. The property has become a venue for crime, to which police have been called 68 times since 2019. Owners would have to pay $2,500 dollars for each day that the building violates city codes. - The 19th annual San Diego NAMIWalks and Mental Wellness Expo will be held today at 8:15 a.m. at Liberty Station. Starting with a free community walk, from 7 – 11 a.m. attendees can visit the Mental Wellness Expo, which features 70 exhibitor booths that offer community resources to improve mental health. The purpose is to raise awareness and address the stigma surrounding mental illness. (countynewscenter.com)
- The La Jolla Playhouse takes theater arts outside the confines of the theater walls and into unique spaces, bringing the four-day Without Walls Festival to the Rady Shell venue. The festival is free, and will continue through Sunday, featuring theatre, dance, music, puppetry and more. (NBC San Diego)
