Guided Labyrinth Walks
  1. May is Mental Health Awareness month, Sharp Coronado Hospital has put together a series of events to help our mental health. On May 12, 2 p.m. at the Spreckels Center, learn how music supports mental health and wellness. Take free classes to support mental wellbeing (all year long). Join a 25-minute class in Elevate Yoga or a Stress Relief Yoga on Zoom. Short on time? Take a 10-minute class on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Mindfulness. Or take a Guided Labyrinth Walk.   2. The ‘Iipay Nyechewuuw Garden at the New Children’s Museum will bring together urban gardening and climate literacy. Eighth grade students will use native plantings to learn and teach others about the foods, tools, and medicines of the Kumeyaay People. The garden is funded by a grant from SDG&E. (Presidio Sentinel)
  3. Come celebrate Native American Heritage month at the 35th annual Balboa Park Pow Wow from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, and Sunday, May 14, located at Park Boulevard and President’s Way. Along with Native American culture and traditions, there will be drummers and dancers in full regalia from throughout the Southwest. The Pow Wow is considered a deeply spiritual experience in Native American culture. (Presidio Sentinel)
  4. The House of Pacific Relations will present its 40th Annual Ethnic Food Fair on Sunday, May 7, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the International Cottages at Balboa Park. Come and enjoy an array of ethnic foods served at the cottages -- proceeds will benefit a nonprofit. There will be a full complement of entertainment, including the lion dance and song at the House of China, Mexican festival at the House of Mexico, Bonita Jazz Band at the House of Czech/Slovak and more! "Get your creative juices flowing for the 13th annual Chalk It Up sidewalk chalk art event, Saturday, May 6, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. The Rancho Bernardo Community Council supplies a bucket filled with chalk to each participant (or you can bring your own). The individuals may take as long as they deem necessary to express their artistic abilities.
