- The San Diego Rescue Mission has provided a second mobile shower trailer, offering a hot shower, along with other services, to help get people off the streets and on the road to independence. The Rescue Mission believes that homelessness is everyone’s problem and that those who are less fortunate deserve our respect. (NBC San Diego)
- With the end of COVID-19 era restrictions, San Diego needs additional resources to handle the coming migrant crisis. Now, the Biden administration has made an agreement with Mexico to send Nicaraguan, Cuban, Venezuelan, and Haitian nationals back to Mexico on humanitarian grounds. In addition, 1500 troops will be sent to the border to free up law enforcement to control the situation. (Voice of San Diego)
- It was called Bike to Work Day, but it has now been replaced by Bike Anywhere Day, taking place on May 18. Acknowledging those who work from home and others, the annual event is open to all. San Diego Association of Governments will sponsor the event. 100 “pit stops” will open from 6 – 9 a.m. and free T-shirts and refreshments will be available. (Rancho Santa Fe Review)
