Dangerously hot conditions are expected with high temperatures from 106 to 112 degrees in the deserts, forecasters said. High temperatures are expected in the mid 90s to 103 degrees in the inland valleys.

"Hot conditions are expected for inland areas through Monday. Influence from the marine layer will help moderate temperatures closer to the coast," NWS San Diego forecasters wrote Friday. "The marine layer will become shallower over the weekend, becoming more confined to coastal areas. A gradual cooling trend is expected for much of next week, with temperatures returning to near or slightly above average by Thursday."

Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illness, according to the NWS. People should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
