More Record Highs Reported In San Diego County Amid Lingering Heat Wave
An excessive heat warning was extended until 8 p.m. Monday for the county's deserts and inland valleys, according to the NWS.
SAN DIEGO, CA — More record high temperatures were reported Wednesday in parts of San Diego County amid a fall heat wave that is expected to linger in the region.
It was 103 degrees Wednesday in Campo, breaking the record of 102 degrees set in 1980, according to the National Weather Service. It was the second consecutive day a record high was reported in Campo, where it was 105 degrees on Tuesday
It was also the second day in a row a record high was reported in Palomar Mountain. It was 92 degrees Wednesday in Palomar Mountain, breaking the record of 90 degrees set in 2020. It was 93 degrees Tuesday in Palomar Mountain.

It was 104 degrees Wednesday in Ramona, breaking the record for the day of 102 degrees set in 2020. It was 90 degrees in Lake Cuyamaca, tying the record for the day set in 1980.

Dangerously hot conditions are expected with high temperatures from 106 to 114 degrees in the deserts, forecasters said. High temperatures are expected in the mid 90s to 104 degrees in the valleys.
"Hot conditions are expected for inland areas into early next week. Influence from the marine layer will help moderate temperatures closer to the coast," NWS San Diego forecasters wrote Thursday. "The marine layer will deepen into Friday, with low clouds reaching into portions of the western valleys. A gradual cooling trend is expected for much of next week."
Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illness, according to the NWS. People should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
