4 Killed In Multi-Vehicle Crash On SR-163 In San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA — A deadly multi-vehicle crash shut down a stretch of southbound state Route 163 Friday morning in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego.

The crash was reported shortly before 1:30 a.m. on southbound SR-163, just north of Interstate 805, according to the California Highway Patrol's traffic incident log.

The CHP told CBS 8 at the scene that at least four people were killed.

A SigAlert was issued for the area. All lanes were blocked in the impacted area, according to Caltrans.

Traffic was being diverted to southbound I-805, the CHP said.
