Police Find SUV Involved In Fatal Hit-And-Run In North County

The SUV will be processed for evidence, police said.

ESCONDIDO, CA — Police have found the vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run this week at a North County intersection.

Miguel Leonides Garcia, 58, was crossing the street shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday at Broadway and Mission Avenue in Escondido when he was struck by a vehicle, according to the Escondido Police Department.

Following the crash, the driver of the vehicle fled north on Broadway, then east on Lincoln Avenue, police said. Garcia, an Escondido resident, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle involved in the crash is a gray 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser, police said Thursday. The SUV will be processed for evidence.

There have been no arrests.
