  1. The Port Commission may pass an ordinance to protect pedestrians along the Embarcadero and Seaport Village. Pedicabs, hoverboards, motorized scooters, and electric bikes, often seen along the area, would no longer be permitted on sidewalks. However, the vehicles would still be permitted to drive on public streets. (CBS News 8)
  2. The City of San Diego plans to open a safe sleeping site in July at 20th and B Streets, as well as another in October at the “O” Lot south of the Naval Medical Center, near Balboa Park. Safe sleeping sites are located in underutilized spaces around the city, and will include rest rooms, meals, and connections to services. The establishment of these sites will better assist both the unhoused population and surrounding neighborhoods in the area. (KUSI)
  3. Travelers along State Route 56 freeway will be pleased with a new plan to create carpool lanes, alleviating some of the traffic bottlenecks commonly faced by drivers on that road. With an abundance of newly built homes in the area, traffic will certainly increase in the future. However, those against the plan say it is not a win with regard to climate change. (CBS News 8)
