SAN DIEGO, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Krysten Beesley who nominated Isaac, a 12th grade student, of San Diego.

How do you know the star local student?

He's my bambino

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

When he was 17 months old he was abused and had severe traumatic brain injury. The doctors said he would never walk, talk, eat or even graduate kindergarten. Well, he's about to graduate High School and is the most friendly, fun and caring kiddo who spreads HOPE like FIRE everyday to everyone he sees. He never has a bad day, mood or attitude. He is truly a huge inspiration and blessing for me and everyone he meets. I'm so proud of you, Isaac! I love you Buddy!

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

That despite having boiling water poured on him and then being beaten so severely causing him permanent and very serious disabilities, he loves everyone and is always helping others, motivating us all to be better and to feel hopeful no matter our circumstances.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Isaac!
