  1. The first affordable housing project is coming to San Diego State University. A Carlsbad company will construct the one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units near the Stadium Station trolley stop and public transit. The project will include 460 affordable housing units, along with a childcare center and public art facades. (Patch)
  2. Hoping to recruit world-class talent, Palomar Health launched a $100,000 incentive program for new RNs (registered nurses). In addition, the current staff of RNs will be paid the $100,000 over a three-year commitment period. Current staff must sign on by April 21, while newcomers may sign up through July 1.   3. Yes, the rainy season is bringing green growth and bright blossoms to San Diego. However, fire officials are warning that the overgrowth could become a major fire hazard once hotter temperatures return. To prevent fires, remove dead trees and shrubs within five feet of buildings now. (ABC 10 News San Diego KGTV)
  4. Known as Velella velella, or By-the-Wind Sailors, these blue blobs are showing up on the sands of San Diego beaches. With their blue translucent coloring, they ride the waves with their white “sails” propelling them across the waters. According to Scripps Institution of Oceanography, whole beaches can be covered with them. Though not harmful, experts say people shouldn't touch them. (NBC San Diego)
