SeaWorld San Diego's Halloween Spooktacular​ To Return With All-New Spooky Surprises

The family-friendly event will feature enchanting mermaids, whimsical pirates, spooky surprises and trick-or-treating throughout the park.

SAN DIEGO, CA — SeaWorld San Diego's Halloween Spooktacular is slated to return in September will festive favorites and all-new spooky surprises.

The theme park's family-friendly Halloween event will feature enchanting mermaids, whimsical pirates, spooky surprises and trick-or-treating throughout the park.

This year's Halloween Spooktacular introduces a lineup of brand-new characters. Spookley the Square Pumpkin will make his SeaWorld debut alongside his companion Jack Scarecrow for dance parties, meet and greets and story times. Other new additions include a family-friendly DJ set, heckling pirate talking skulls, and a quartet of talking skeletons.

The Halloween magic continues with the return of festive favorites, including O.P. Otter's Spooktacular Surprise, where families can join O.P. Otter and friends for a Halloween costume party at Mission Bay Theater. There will also be mermaid meet and greets, the Scurvy Squad Pirate Shanty Band, story time with Captain Sweet Tooth and First Mate Peggy, a waterfront pumpkin patch, and a Trick-or-Treat Trail with 10 candy stations.

Halloween Spooktacular will take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 5 to Nov. 5. Candy stations will be open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays, and from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The event will also include the celebration of the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos on Nov. 1 and 2. The celebration will feature Catrina statues and ofrendas, or offerings, of flowers and mementos honoring loved ones who have died, as well as traditional Latin music and festive food options.
