SigAlert: Fatal Crash Blocks Lanes On I-5 In San Diego
The crash happened on southbound I-5, just south of Del Mar Heights Road, according to the CHP.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A fatal crash was blocking lanes Thursday morning on Interstate 5 in San Diego.
The crash was reported at 4:16 a.m. on southbound I-5, just south of Del Mar Heights Road, according to the California Highway Patrol's incident log.
A Toyota Tacoma hit the back of a commercial truck carrying a long trailer, according to the CHP. The truck was trapped underneath the trailer and caught fire. Fire crews extinguished the flames and tried to extricate the truck driver, but he was pronounced dead.

Authorities issued a SigAlert shortly before 5 a.m. for the area, according to Caltrans and the CHP. The right lanes were blocked due to the crash.
