Sinkhole Opens On SR-54, Prompts Closure
The westbound SR-54 connector to northbound and southbound I-805 was closed, according to Caltrans.
SAN DIEGO, CA — A sinkhole opened Monday on westbound state Route 54 near National City.
The sinkhole was reported at 2:48 a.m. near the westbound SR-54 connector to northbound and southbound Interstate 805, according to the California Highway Patrol's incident log. Authorities closed the ramp.
The sinkhole was about 8-by-10 feet in size, according to the CHP.
