- Some say the City of San Diego is moving too fast with its Climate Action Plan. Others say it’s not moving fast enough. The goal is to reduce natural gas usage by 2035, and the city is currently exploring the most cost-effective policies for industry, homeowners and city buildings. Funding would come from federal, local and state government programs to help defray costs. The city will also seek money from private sources. (Del Mar Times)
- SDG&E is seeking $100 million in federal funds as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The grant would be used to offset the costs of wildfire efforts in and around federally recognized tribal lands within SDG&E’s service area. In addition, the California Public Utilities Commission will match this funding with an additional $100 million from SDG&E. (Times of San Diego)
- Great weather is back, and now is the time to get out and take a hike. San Diego offers so many parks and trails suited to hikers at all levels. At Mission Trails Regional Park, the Kumeyaay Lake Trail offers the easiest mile-long trail. Hikers can also take a mile-long hike at Oak Grove Loop North Trail. Looking for a challenge? Try the mile-long Climbers Loop South Trail, designated as a difficult hike rising to 407 feet in elevation and offering spectacular views. (Times of San Diego)
