Woman Killed In 2-Vehicle Traffic Collision In Balboa Park

The woman was taken to a hospital and later died.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 67-year-old woman was killed Wednesday in a head-on collision in Balboa Park.

Officers responded to the 3000 block of Florida Drive around 2:25 p.m. Wednesday to a report regarding a severe traffic collision, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Detectives discovered that a 2009 Subaru Forester sport utility vehicle was traveling southbound on Florida Drive while a 2014 Toyota Sienna minivan was heading northbound on the same street.

Police said the minivan crossed the center line into the southbound lane, where it struck the sport utility vehicle head-on.

The woman driving the sport utility vehicle was taken to a hospital and later died.

Alcohol was not a determining factor in the fatal collision. Detectives were conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash. Anyone with information regarding the collision was urged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580- 8477.
